PROFESSIONAL LIFE:

Steve Schmutz currently serves as the CEO of Origami Compliance, a division of Origami Risk. His primary role is sales and business development. He works with insurance carriers, TPAs, and self-administered organizations across the country, assisting them with workers’ compensation compliance solutions.

Steve founded Claimwire in 2012, a company which provided state forms and other work comp services via APIs (web services). Claimwire was acquired by Origami Risk in 2016.

Prior to founding Claimwire, Steve co-founded MountainView Software in 1995, which he sold to Gallagher Bassett Services in 2002. 

Steve began his career as a software engineer for a municipality. He then spent 6 years as a Regional Sales Manager for WordPerfect Corporation before launching MountainView Software in 1994.

Steve earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Brigham Young University in Information Management. He is currently pursuing an Associate of Risk Management (ARM) certification. 

PERSONAL LIFE:

Steve and his wife, Becky, have been married for 36 years. They have 5 daughters and 19 (yes 19), grandchildren! Life is busy when they all get together. Steve and Becky live in the Salt Lake City area where they both enjoy hiking, reading, attending their “55 and older” exercise class, and of course, their family. They love being grandparents.
